I have been continuing my reflection on the 3 year anniversary of Crosspoint Church. Last week I posted 10 things I learned the hard way. I realized that through the planting process that attenders also learned several things the hard way. Here is the top 5 things attenders learned the hard way when we started out…

1. If you didn’t like your last pastor and church I am sure when you leave

here you will not like me or our church as well.

2. We are starting from scratch, so it will be years before we have all the

effective ministries you want or are use too, and we may never have them if

they don’t fit with the mission and vision God has given this church.

3. If you are unwilling to serve in set up or tear down or other important

but non glamorous positions then this is not the church for you.

4. It is going to take time to launch this church, give us, the staff the benefit of the doubt and come

along side us as problem solvers.

5. If you don’t help row the boat, then you don’t get to comment on how we

steer the boat. And if you do row the boat, we will listen, but understand

this- the vision is not for sale, period.

I know that those 5 things may be a little raw, but the truth was we were starting a life changing ministry, not a country club, not a social outlet, but a ministry built on the Good News of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us and the power of the Holy Spirit to transform us into accurate reflections of our Heavenly Father, dedicated to bringing that message to every man, woman and child in our county and beyond. And to accomplish that, as a leader I needed and still need a steadfast and unyielding commitment to that vision and mission.
