10 Things I learned the hard way planting a church…

Author: PaulCastelli | Filed under: Uncategorized

the easy way or the hard waySo as Crosspoint Church recently turned 3 years old this month, I have done a lot of reflecting on the journey so far.

It has been a crazy adventure and a true learning experience, and I wanted to impart some wisdom from the school of hard knocks to those who will be called to launch churches.

Here is what I wish I would’ve known or paid attention too before I started. I came up with my short list of things I learned the hard and there are 11 not 10, I never really was good at math.

1.You don’t know as much about leadership as you think.

2. Expect the unexpected, stuff will go wrong especially on Sunday.

3. Give jobs with timelines and deadlines.

4. Vision leaks.

5. You need money, lots of money, get over your fear, insecurities and past.

6. People who come to your church looking for something (title, position, better pastor, etc) won’t find it at your church.

7. There will never enough of anything.

8. Others churches and pastors in your community don’t want you to be successful.

9. Even your most supportive followers will let you down.

10. For every “Atta boy” there will be 20 criticisms.

11. As the Pastor my insecurities, my sin, my personal issues will affect the spiritual condition of my church, and stifle what God wants to do in it and though it.
